Senryu on Borders' Demise

Bright lights, Bright banners
Contrast the sad empty shelves
My bookstore closing!

Why I Like Bookstores

Roving through the bookstore
Hunting for fresh dreams
I breathe the scent of opportunity
In every aisle I weave.

A history novel beckons
‘Come hear my tale and thrill’
A language primer calls
‘Explore new worlds and skills!’

Ten thousand different stories
One thousand heights and chills
I inhale the air of new glories
And get drunk on the wine of “what ifs.”

I leave the store with possibilities
And know most will never soar
But come next week I’ll wander back
To roam and seek once more.
